The Spiritual Journey

Dr. Basu Ray was born in a middle class Bengali family in Kolkata, India. From a young age he was keenly interested in knowing the secrets of this universe and the entity called ‘God’. This led him to read most of Indian religious and spiritual literature particularly writings of Swami Vivekananda and Maharishi Aurobindo. He has been practicing meditation from the age of six years.

Breaking new dimensions.

Dr. Basu Ray had the awesome chance to meet many famous gurus in India back then. He officially joined the Kriya Yoga tradition in 1990, under the guidance of Swami Hariharananda Giri, a top-notch master from a powerful meditation lineage. Kriya Yoga’s got some heavy hitters like Mahaavatar Babaji, Lahiri Mahasaya, and Paramhansa Yogananda – it’s like the Avengers of ancient yoga! Apart from Kriya Yoga, Dr. Basu Ray also dabbled in other meditation methods like Vipassana, just to see what’s out there. Nowadays, he’s all about spreading the meditation love through lectures and workshops, blending Vedanta philosophy with modern science.

His sessions aren’t just for monks – they’re for regular folks and even doctors worldwide, showing how meditation can keep you healthy and stress-free. He’s been a guest speaker at tons of places, from universities to corporate gigs, preaching the gospel of stress reduction, disease prevention, and career success through meditation. Plus, he’s whipped up a neat little meditation hack for anyone looking to chill out and live their best life.

Childhood interest was soon replaced by a dire hunger to know the truth behind this creation and the secrets of human existence. Classics like The Tao of Physics by Fritjof Capra further enhanced his curiosity. He understood that eastern sages and philosophers thousands of years ago have reached similar conclusion, as the scientists of today, by studying the universe and its function through a mind that is in deep meditation. This further fueled his inward journey and he started his own experimentation with meditation.
